Russell Shaw of BBHub blogged about a yet to be confirmed new model of Blackberry, the Blackberry 8700 ,which according to rumor, it is code-named as Electron. The rumor started last Thursday when athreya, a member of BlackBerryForums.com, who has also revealed plans for the BlackBerry 7290 to the Forum, claimed that his (unnamed) organization had been testing the 8700.
According to athreya, the BlackBerry 8700 features built-in GPS, built-in IM(Instant Messanging), built-in 64MB memory, and native-attachment viewing (rather than the requirement for third-party solutions). It will be broadband-capable, with EVDO for Verizon, BB for SprintNextel, and EDGE for Cingular. However athreya also said this smartphone doesn’t have a digital camera, Wi-FI, and VoIP functions.

Misinformed. No built in GPS or IM as far as I can see unless they hid it in a menu somewhere that isn’t immediately apparent.
