After Toshiba showcased their world’s smallest DMFC, yesterday they announced two DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) prototypes for DAP (Digital Audio Player).
The 100mW version is for flash memory based DAP, it measures 23×78 x 10 mm with the DAP measuring 35×110 x 20mm, and it weighs 78.5 g (full tank). The 300mW version is for HDD based DAP, it measures 60×75 x 10 mm with the DAP measuring 65×125 x 27 mm, and it weighs 270 g (full tank).
It’s a little bit heavy, but the good news is, the energy storage is impressive. The 100mW version with single charge fuel supports up to 35 hours music playback, while the 300mW version supports up to 60 hours music playback.
