In IFA 2005, German manufacturer Grundig introduced their new portable media player, the Grundig MPixx VP6200/30GB. There are too many portable media players around and honestly this one isn’t outstanding, at least for the same storage capacity and similar functions, I prefer Creative Zen Vision 30GB Portable Media Player over this one.
Let’s look at its features:
- Playing and recording digital music, photos and videos
- Supports MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG 4 (DivX, XviD) and other common file formats
- High-resolution 3.5” TFT-LCD display with 64,000 colours
- Integrated 30 GB hard drive
- Panning camera with 1.3 megapixels and 4x digital zoom
for video recordings - Direct encoding function, i.e. direct recording from built-in microphone, FM tuner or external devices connected via the line input (e.g. portable CD player, DVD player or TV) into MP3 format (audio), JPEG (photo) or ASF files (video),
all without a PC - Displays ID3 tags and song lyrics
- FM radio
- Connections: USB 2.0 high speed, earphones, Line In/Line Out for TV, video and audio
- Built-in stereo loudspeakers
- Powerful integrated lithium-polymer battery
- Housing colour: chrome
The Grundig MPixx Vp 6200/30GB measures 116×78 x 23 mm and weighs 220g. Grundig claims its battery can supports up to 13 hours of MP3 playback, however no figure is given for video playback/recording. It’s a shame that Grundig employs a 64,000 colors TFT-LCD instead of a 262K colors TFT-LCD, that will reduce the image quality by a lot.
The Grundig MPixx VP 6200/30GB will be available on market starting October 2005, with no retail price announced at the moment.
