Evergreen (Japan) released a new neckband headphone MP3 player last thursday, which was the EG-HPM. The EG-HPM is available in two models, 256MB and 512MB, retailing for 12,800 Yen (US$114) and 14,800 Yen (US$132) respectively.

The EG-HPM features a 96×64 pixel three-color built-in EL display housed on the left earphone, with Japanese characters support, displaying ID3 tags information of the songs including song titles, singers, as well as bit rate information. It supports playback for MP3 and WMA audio files, and even direct encoding of MP3 and WMA files via the built-in stereo mini jack. With its built-in FM tuner and built-in mic, users can also record their favourite FM radio program. Need to store some file at school’s library and bring it home but you don’t have any USB flash memory with you? Don’t worry, users can also turn the EG-HPM into a USB flash storage device by using its USB 1.1 interface.

This unit is powered by the built-in Li-Polymer battery which provides up to 15 hours of audio playback and takes 2-3 hours to fully recharge. It measures 49×52 x 15 mm in outer dimensions and weighs 36 g, just about the same weight as any regular headphone.
