OQO Model 01

OQO announced its newest ultra personal computer, the OQO model 01+ on Monday. With upgraded specs from the original model 01, new features and additional accessories all packed in the same 14 ounce pocketable design that made the model 01+ the smallest and most mobile Windows XP computer on the market, the model 01+ offers even more PC functionality everywhere you go.

In addition to upgraded memory (512MB), larger hard drive (30GB), and faster USB, the model 01+ incorporates an internal speaker and improved pen-based digitizer. The model 01+ now ships with a new universal power supply which adds support for airplane and automobile DC power outlets. The rest of the specifications are exactly the same as the OQO model 01.

The retail prices remain the same as its predecessor: $1999.99 for Windows XP Pro version and $1899.99 for Windows XP Home version. At the same time, they have reduced the price for the model 01 by $400.00. You can buy it from OQO’s online store.

    1. Even their first model didn’t go far. This one, slight upgrades, but nothing really special. Thanks for pointing it out, anyway :) have a great day

    1. thanks :) i wonder how was their sale for the first model though, they probably did alright.

    1. Anyone know if you can install Mac OS X for Intel on OQO machines?

    1. Perhaps. But it seems like some devices including the tablet might not work.

      Quote from their knowledge base:

“The OQO model 01 is a standard x86 PC computer. However, OQO has incorporated a number of technological innovations into the hardware of the model 01 which require the support of specific software drivers. Replacing the operating system included with the OQO model 01 with any other operating system may prevent unique hardware features, such as the integrated graphics tablet, from working properly.

We do not currently have, nor do we know of any device drivers for OQO components that have been tested with operating systems other then Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional. Please check www.oqo.com/support periodically for any updates.”

    1. on second thought, the OQO model 01+ is powered by 1GHz Transmeta Crusoe processor. I’m not familiar with mac os for intel, does it run on transmeta crusoe or amd processor?
