The N901iS NEC FOMA handset features a lovely, large 2.5” super display. Its QVGA (230×345) TFT-LCD display is claimed to be the mobile phone display with the world’s highest level of color expression power, featuring vividness that is as good as a desktop computer’s monitor.
Comparing with its predecessor, the N900iS that features a 2.2” display with 50% chromaticity limits, the N901iS’s TFT-LCD display features as high as 72% chomaticity limits, which is much closer to the 100% chromaticity limits in the colors of natural world.
As a NTT DoCoMo FOMA phone, this handset works on WCDMA network only. Other than the super display, the N901iS also features web browser and PDF viewer with complete functions, allowing users to enjoy viewing web pages or PDF documents with the large, vivid screen and the pointer device that allows users to scroll in 4 directions comfortably. The N901iS also features PictMagic’s automatic image correction (brightness/contrast, backlight, skin color) technology, as well as support for PictBridge direct image printing.
The FOMA N901iS measures 106×51 x 24 mm in dimensions and weighs 123 g. It has exactly the same battery life as the N701i. With a fully charged battery, it provides up to 130 minutes talk time for audio telephony, or 80 minutes talk time for video telephony; 430 hours standby time in still position and 350 standby time while the user is moving around.
The N901iS employs a miniSD card slot, with a 256MB miniSD card bundled in the retail package. The retail price of a new N90iS without service subscription contract ranges from 24800 Yen (US$213) to 35000 Yen ($301) in Japan.
