USB + SD = YouSD II

After releasing YouSD, the innovative SD memory card with USB connector earlier this year, Inx Japan recently announced the second generation of YouSD, the YouSD II memory cards with higher capacities. The new YouSD II measures 32×24 x 2.1 mm in dimensions and weighs 2.1 g. It will be available in 2GB, 1GB, 512MB and 256MB models.

YouSD II works like a normal SD memory card, except that a USB 2.0 connector will be revealed when the cap is removed. You can plug the YouSD II memory card directly into your computer’s USB port and use it as a USB flash memory drive. It is compatible with Windows and also Mac OS according to T. Watanabe of Inx Japan.

YouSD II offers transfer rate of 20 MBbs for the SD card interface, and 17 – 18 MBps for the USB 2.0 interface. It will hit the Japanese consumer market on December 15th, with the following retail prices:

  • 2GB – 31,800 Yen ($ 260)
  • 1GB – 19,800 Yen ($ 160)
  • 512MB – 9800 Yen ($ 75)
  • 256MB – 7980 Yen ($ 65).
