Gigabyte Taiwan just announced three new handset models for the holidays season: the Barbie which doesn’t have any interesting features, it’s specially made for the Barbie fans out there; the g-Cam camera phone featuring 7 megapixel simulated resolution for still image by capturing pictures using its 5 megapixel CCD sensor; and the g-Smart, the first slider PDA phone with built-in TV tuner (for NTSC TV signals instead of DMB).
g-Cam is Gigabyte’s most high end camera phone, other than the high pixel camera, it also comes with a flash light, a touch screen and hand writting input function, as well as a built-in MP3 player.
Like a lot of other high end digital cameras, you can also connect g-Cam directly to a compatible printer and print your photos directly without using a computer.
Another powerful handset is the g-Smart, featuring a 2.1 megapixel camera, built-in Wi-Fi, FM tuner and the first built-in NTSC TV tuner for mobile phones. The g-Smart’s 2.4” 262k colors QVGA LCD display is definitely good enough to make it a mini TV.
The g-Smart runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, which increases its power efficiency. g-Smart also comes with push e-mail feature and complete office document processing softwares such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
These three new Gigabyte handsets will hit the Taiwanese market around Christmas, at the retail prices of 11,800 TWD (US$355), 13,900 TWD (US$418) and 21,500 (US$647) respectively for the Barbie, the g-Cam, and the g-Smart.
