I still remember back in those days while scanner wasn’t that common, there were some handheld scanner with the shape of the handheld barcode scanner, I can’t seem to find one of those nowadays. However PLANon has released a cool enough batteries powered handheld scanner, the DocuPen R700, which takes just 4 to 8 seconds to scan a page.

The DocuPen R700 comes in the shape of a long bar, allowing you to scan documents with full page width including text and graphics. You can scan and store up to 100 pages into its memory, as well as using its PaperPort Software with OCR capability to turn your scanned documents into editable form. Worrying it might not be easy to roll over a page steadily while scanning your documents? Don’t worry about it, the DocuPen R700 offers a dual-roller guiding system with strategically placed rollers around the scanner lens to distribute operator’s pressure evenly for smooth and easy scans.

The DocuPen R700’s Li-Ion battery gets recharged everytime you connect it to your computer’s USB port to transfer stored documents. It is available at the price of US$199.99 on PLANon’s website.
