Sony today introduced their new Handycam DCR-SR100, featuring a generous 30GB hard disk drive, which is the largest storage capacity in the digital camcorder industry. The 30GB HDD allows you to record up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of video in HQ mode (9Mbps), 10 hours and 50 minutes of video in SP mode (6Mbps), or 20 hours and 50 minutes of video in LP mode (3Mbps). Now you don’t have to worry about storage capacity anymore when you are on your trip as long as you have a laptop or a mobile HDD to transfer your video or pictures from the DCR-SR100 every night before you go to sleep.

The DCR-SR100 comes with advanced shock proof design to protect its 1.8-inch HDD even when you’re recording your video. It employs a CCD sensor with effective resolutions of up to 2.06-megapixel for video and up to 3.05-megapixel for still image. Its lenses provide up to 10x optical zoom (up to total of 120x zoom including digital zoom in video recording mode), F1.8~2.9 aperture, 42.8~495mm (16:9) or 45~450mm (4:3) focal length in video mode and 40.6~406 (16:9) or 37~370mm (4:3) focal length in still image mode.

This handycam will hit the market on March 3rd in Japan. For detailed specifications, please follow the links below.
