Sony Ericsson K608i
Sony Ericsson has released their new 3G phone in the third quarter of 2005. It’s a sleek, slim and durable device that weighs the same as existing 2G phones, putting an end to the age of bulky 3G handsets. ThreeGMobile.net posted a review for this cool looking dual front camera/phone. Before we get to the review, let’s look at the specifications of the phone.

K608i supports UMTS, as well as GSM 900/1800/1900. It features a 1.3 Mega Pixel camera with up to 4x digital zoom, 1.8” MD-TFD (Mobile Digital Thin Film Diode, which removes the need for a complex digital-to-analogue converter, and cuts down on many power regulation components.) screen with 262K colors and resolution of 176×220, video streaming function, built-in FM radio, speaker phone functions, 32MB built-in memory and other features which are common on Sony Ericsson’s phones.

Here’s what the review says about the phone:

Battery capacity is 900mAh, which is the same as K750i. While testing, the daily usage is about 10 minutes of video calls, several video clips download, 30 minutes of voice calls and an hour of music playback, the battery can stand for 1.5 day, and it is already very good.

Some people said that the SE 3G 600 series is an elementry series, but I do not agree. Other than lacking external memory card support, the executive funtions are still very good. Examples are multi-entry phone book that supports caller groups, syncronizing Outlook appointments, calendars, tasks and notes (instant sync). What’s more, it supports email and full profiled Bluetooth. It’s really hard to catagorize the series as “elementary” with functions like these.

Can the background noise problem be solved in K608i?. From my trial, I don’t think the problem is improved greatly. Overall, the voice quality and clarity of K608i is still great. However, comparing to my Z1010, the first SE 3G phone, K608i is not as good as that. But I also insisted that K608i is a handset with good voice quality.
