Yesterday Canon finally ended the rumor of EOS 5D by announcing the release of this world’s smallest and lightest full framed 12.8 megapixel digital SLR. This camera with compact magnesium alloy body weighs just 810 grams.

Key features of EOS 5D include Canon’s proprietary DIGIC II Image Processor (which allows users to shoot up to 3 frames per second, record up to 60 full-resolution JPEGs and 17 RAW images in a single burst), new Picture Style pre-sets (including Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral – ideal for post processing, Faithful – adjusts colour to match the subject colour when shot under a colour temperature of 5200K, and Monochrome), high resolution 2.5” polysilicon TFT LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels which has an exceptional 170 degree wide viewing angle, a new sophiscated 9 points AF system with 6 invisible Assist AF points to improve tracking performance, compatibility with Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1, custom mode for fast recall of user defined camera setups, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface for fast downloads and 1/8000 – 30 second shutter speed with X-sync at 1/200s.

Expected retail price for the 5D is around US$3495 in the US. Currently Amazon.com is accepting pre-order for $3,299.95.
