Sometimes our memory could be a funny thing. You might not remember where did you take a picture, or even remember the wrong place which you took the picture especially if you travel around frequently. Sony came up with their own life GPS device, the Sony GPS-CS1. This little device attaches to compatible Sony cameras including the Sony Alpha DSLR and stores GPS and time information, so when you download your photos it can tell you exactly where and when you took them.
This device comes with Sony’s GPS Image Tracker software which synchronizes the images on your digital camera with the latitude, longitude and time readings from the GPS-CS1 device. Once synchronized, your photos can become virtual push pins on an online map by activating the Picture Motion Browser software bundled with the latest Sony cameras and camcorders released after July. You can easily add new photos and coordinates to the mapping web site, courtesy of Google Maps, and showcase years of globe-trotting.
The GPS-CS1 records the coordinates every 15 seconds to ensure high accuracy of the locations of where your pictures were taken. Only if Sony’s cameras have built-in compass to record which direction were you shooting at, they would be perfect combo.
