In the picture captured by Reuter’s reporter Kimimasa Mayama, a sales clerk was demonstrating how a mobile phone can be charged using a dynamo-electric power radio at an emergency goods exhibition in Tokyo August 23, 2005.
However I have some doubts about its usability during disaster emergency. Imagine, if you need to recharge your mobile phone using this good during disaster emergency. That means the electriciy power supply is down, and most likely the mobile phone network won’t be functioning either around your area either. Perhaps at this stage, it’s only useful when power supply is down in your building or within a small area and you have to make important calls while your mobile phone is running out of battery.

Take for instance, the terroist attack on the world trade towers in the United States. When it hit and hours afterwards, the cellphone networks were slammed with such high usage that to many, cellphones were made useless. massive blackouts are the same thing, high level of usage equates to strain on network and whether a cellphone is charged or not won’t make much of a difference.
