Just when we thought the DELL XPS M1710 is gonna top the most powerful notebook computer for this year, PC MicroWorks released the a duo core SLI capable notebook computer – the Vega. It seems that the best things come in pair for the Vega, it is powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core processor, jaw dropping dual 512MB nVidia Geforce Go 7950GTX or dual 512MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M SLI GPUs, and dual 160 GB SATA hard drives (it also offers options for up to 600GB Perpendicular at 4200RPM).

1.1 kg LG Xnote TX

LG has unveiled their 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs) Xnote TX, an ultra light and compact laptop powered by an 1.3 GHz Intel Pentium-M 773 processor, 1GB DDR RAM, 64MB GeForce Go 7300 graphics module, and a 60GB HDD. The screen is a 12.1” WXGA display, which is good enough for such a slim and elegant machine.

New Apple iMac - MacBook Pro

Apple is displaying their new MacBook Pro at Macworld, a much faster laptop than the previous iMac, powered by Intel’s Core Duo technology. Other than running at speed twice as fast as the previous iMac, the MacBook Pro also comes with lovely features such as a backlit keyboard with ambient light sensors for automatic adjustment of keyboard illumination and screen brightness; the new power adapter with MagSafe connector, which is designed to magnetically guide your cord into place and disconnect smoothly if someone (else) trips over it; the scrolling trackpad for precise cursor control, which supports two finger scrolling, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities; the cool Front Row feature; as well as an iSight camera which can be found on the previous iMac.

Panasonic Fuel Cell Laptop

Finally, Panasonic showcased their new DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) powered laptop at CES 2006. This laptop is said to get 20 hours out of a full tank of fuel (about 6 3/4 ounces). Although its DMFC power hardware is still a bit bigger than a typical battery pack, it is indeed half the size of comparable devices which are available.

LG introduced their new slim Dual Core series laptops, the T1 Express Dual at CES 2006. The T1 Express Dual comes in an ultra thin and light body with elegant piano black chassis, and elegant white keyboard panel. The LG T1 Express Dual with 14” widescreen display measures 334×240 x 21.5 mm in dimensions and weignhs 1.9 kg or 4.2 lbs (with a 6-cell Li-Ion battery). It is powered by Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology with Intel Core Duo Processor L2300 (1.5GHz).

NEC today unveiled their new laptop model, the VersaPro UltraLite VY12F/CH-W, which comes with a light (it weighs just 996g) and strong casing that is able to resist pressure of up to 150kg. Although it is not the lightest laptop in the world (Panasonic’s R4 is still the lightest), it definitely has the strongest frame ever built for any consumer laptop.
