O2 released its first 3.5G Pocket PC in HK on the last day of February. The new Xda Atom Life basically looks pretty much the same as its predecessor, the Xda Atom: a black body with simple and clean outline, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a media player navigation panel along with the basic Pocket PC buttons, and a pair of shortcut bottons on the lower right side of the phone’s body. In addition, it has a 0.3-megapixel supplementary camera for video conferencing purpose. The Xda Atom Life weighs 145 g, which is only 5 g heavier than the Xda Atom.

Sony Ericsson today announced two new Cyber-shot phones, the K810 and the K550. The K810 basically share the same features as the K800, it comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus, Cyber-shot Xenon flash with red eye reduction, 17mm thin
2.0” QVGA 262k TFT display, M2 slot with 128MB M2 in-box, 64MB user free memory, and other similar functions.

Product Visionaires GmbH, a BenQ Mobile subsidiary based in Berlin, is a creative think tank developing future concepts primarily for BenQ-Siemens. They have released their designs of few concept mobile phones recently. These phone designs are indeed cool and creative.

Following Dopod and ETEN’s foot steps, Asus announced their first GPS-enabled Pocket PC, the Asus P535 on Wednesday. This new model is powered by Intel Xscale 520MHz processor, 64 MB SDRAM, 256 MB NAND flash memories, and Microsoft Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition (AKU3.2). Asus is targeting the P535 at the Asian Pacific market, with retail price of around US$740 (23,900 TWD in Taiwan).

Samsung revealed the first production ready WiBro convergence mobile device, the SPH-P9000, which will be available for Korean telco KTF’s customers in the first half of 2007. The SPH-P9000 is an UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) and at the same time a communication device with supports for both WiBro and CDMA2000 1X EV-DO networks. In short, it’s the first 4G mobile “phone”.

The Black Box is a design award winning concept phone by BenQ-Siemens. It comes with a sleek touch screen that acts as the display, the buttons, and the keypad. The layout is soft programmed, allowing you to switch between functions such as phone dailer, calculator, FM radio, games, camera and so on easily. It’s definitely a wise decision to use black background and white foreground for the screen, which matches perfectly with the body and make the Black Box look so clean and stylish. Bravo BenQ-Siemens! I would really love to see this concept phone in production.
